Un'espressione per rispondere al telefono in Giappone e' "moshi moshi"
(deriva da "mousi masu, moushi masu" che significa "io dico". "Moushi
masu" e' piu' cortese della frase "hanashi masu"). Si utilizza anche
quando si pensa che la conversazione sia interrotta.

Answering the phone in Japanese seems like easy business. Moshi moshi (from
moushimasu 申します or mousu 申す. These all means "I'm going to say (talk)."
You can say "moshi moshi" also If the phone calling was paused, dropped
or interrupted.
