------------------------------ Kawagoe (川越市) si trova nella prefettura di Saitama, a mezz'ora da Toyo. E' stata chiamata "Ko-Edo" o "Piccola Edo" (l'antico nome di Tokyo), perche' insieme a Sawara (piccolo villaggio nella prefettura di Chiba) , conserva ancora oggi l'antico sapore Edo, ed e' possibile ammirare le antiche case commerciali lungo la strada principale. Uno dei festival piu' famosi della regione del Kanto, e' proprio il Kawagoe Matsuri (che si svolge da circa 350 anni!!). Il terzo sabato e domenica del mese di Ottobre, dunque potrete ammirare la parata di splendidi carri in legno decorati con lanterne e intarsi. Al loro interno figure teatrali rappresentanti personaggi popolari, storici o leggendari, recitano e danzano con maschere e abiti tipici. Potrete ammirare adulti e bambini sempre in abiti tradizionali , trascinare i carri attraverso delle corde nelle strade, sino a quando i carri si incontrano e danno vita a un "duello" di danze... Il tutto e' circondato dai mile colori delle bancarelle di cibo Takoyaki , Okonomiyaki , Yakisoba , Yakitori , patate dolci, carne e pesce alla grigliati a volonta' e una marea di dolci, chocobanana dorayaki, mochi mochi ecc..ecc.. ------------------------------ Kawagoe (at only 30 minutes from Tokyo) offers every year on the 3rd Saturday and Sunday of October the exciting Kawagoe Matsuri. It's one of the biggest festivals in the Kanto region and maintains a history of more than 350 years. Lots of huge and beautifully decorated floats (dashi) accompanied by traditional Japanese music (ohayashi) are pulled around the old town center, which is also known as "Little Edo", as it still holds a very traditional atmosphere. To admire the detail of the amazing floats it's best to go during the day. The structure of the festival floats has developed in Edo style consisting of 2 levels with a doll on the top, usually featuring historical people. The sides are decorated with delicate carvings and beautifully embroidered curtains. With lots of excited musicians and dancers on top of the floats, people start to pull them along the streets again. When a float overtakes another, they face each other, the music gets louder, and they get into a kind of competition ( “Hikkawase”) and it feels like a battle of music, cheered by excited spectators. To surround it there is always lots of entertainment and food stalls, and you must ry Takoyaki , Okonomiyaki , Yakisoba , Yakitori , chocobanana dorayaki, mochi mochi
