Sawara 佐原 e' un piccolo villaggio nella prefettura di Chiba. Le sue
strade si presentano come 200 anni fa nel periodo Edo e c'e' l'usanza di
dire "Se vuoi vedere Edo, perche' non visiti Sawara?"
La citta' e' molto famosa per il Sawara Matsuri Festival, 2 volte
all'anno (Meta' Luglio e meta' Ottobre) dove sfilano carri su due ruote
sormontati da raffigurazioni mitologiche giapponesi ed eroi. Una bella
esperienza!

Sawara (佐原) is a small town in the northwest portion of Chiba Prefecture.
People used to say: "If you want to see Edo, why don't you visit Sawara?"
Sawara streets remain as they were 200 years ago in the Edo Period. The
town is very famous for Sawara Matsuri Festival, where floats topped by
giant dolls, representing mythological Japanese warriors and heroes, are
wheeled through the streets. The festival is held twice yearly in July
and October. Very good experience!!

minutes on foot

By car : Higashi Kanto Expressway, 10 minutes from Sawara-Katori exit
By High-way bus: Kanto Railways Green Bus from Tokyo Station for
Hokota-station, getting off at Yasaka.
Keisei bus, from Hamamatsu-cho, or Tokyo-station, by way of Sawara, for
Choshi. Getting off at Sawara station north exit, and 20 minutes on foot.
