Il 27 ottobre e' il Giorno dell'orsacchiotto Teddy Bear! Tutto nasce dal compleanno del politico statunitense Theodore Roosevelt, il 27 Ottobre. In quanto Egli, soprannominato Teddy durante una battuta di caccia si rifiuto' di uccidere un cucciolo d'orso! Da qui nasce il giorno internazionale di Teddy Bear, festeggiato in tutto il mondo!

テディベアの名前の由来となったアメリカ26代大統領セオドア・ルーズベルトの誕生日です。
イギリスのテディベアコレクターの間で始められ、
世界中で「心の支えを必要とする人たちにテディベアを贈る運動」が行われています。
日本では日本テディベア協会が1997年から実施しています。
1902(明治35)年の秋、ルーズベルト大統領は趣味である熊狩りに出掛けたが、獲物をしとめることができませんでした。
そこでおつきの人が、同行していたハンターが小熊を追いつめて最後の一発を大統領に頼みましたが、
「瀕死の小熊を撃つのはスポーツマン精神にもとる」として撃ちませんでした。
このことが同行していた新聞記者によって新聞に掲載され、このエピソードに因んで、
翌年、ニューヨークのおもちゃメーカーが熊のぬいぐるみに、
ルーズベルト大統領の愛称である「テディ」と名づけて発売しました。
その頃、ドイツのシュタイフ社の熊のぬいぐるみが大量にアメリカに輸入され、この名前が広まりました。

For you who didn't know this we can tell you that the US President Theodore Rooselvelt from whom the teddy bear got its name had his birthday today, the 27th of October. And therefore the International Teddy Bear Day is celebrated today all over the world.
